Vera Lesavoy//actress//model//creative spirit//Queen

At age 17 you moved to New York by yourself. What were you looking for in NY?

I graduated high school at seventeen, and felt a bit young to go to college straight away. I wanted to go to acting school, and so I took a gap year in New York, to gain some life experience, and see another part of the world I’d never been to.

You are an actress, model, but you also photograph and paint. What are you working on at the moment?

Halloween is coming baby!! (sorry for the delay of posting. WM.)
Haha, I love October, and Halloween is, by far, my favorite holiday, so I’ve been experimenting making extravagant make up and face prosthetics. I want to be something really crazy this year, Heidi Klum always does very well, but I’m ready to beat her.

Oh, also I continue to photograph and paint. I’m just getting into using oil based paint instead of acrylic, so loads to experiment with.. I’m working in my art studio in Amsterdam this month, which I’m so lucky to have and be able to do work from!

You've choose  to wear  the Queen on your portrait, can you tell us why?

I liked the classic shape of it- to me it felt the most crown like.

Models have a stigma of just being pretty. A lot about the outside. Can you explain how this feels? Do you feel to fight against these prejudices? You want to be called an actress first, has this something to do with these prejudices?

People, unfortunately still associate people that model as undereducated individuals that have nothing going for themselves besides their good looks, and I don't want to be associated with that stigma. Modeling is also something I don’t see as my main profession, and it certainly isn't what I see myself doing for the rest of my career. I’ve always been an actor, that is what I do and what I want to do forever. I will continue to grow as an actor, get better, inhabit a variety of characters. As a model I feel like I can’t grow much more, but perhaps the size of my billboards or paychecks can still get bigger, haha.

What is your mission in life?

I don’t have much of a personal mission other than the obvious, live my life in a way that makes me happy, but not take it all too seriously.  If I reach celebrity status one day, I hope I can use it to make a difference towards the environment.

Who inspires you to be a better version of yourself?

Staying humble is very important to me, so I’ll always remember where I came from, my upbringing and my family. That being said, Also the reason I want to be the best version of myself, I’m proud to be my parent’s daughter and would never want to disappoint them.

Is there a woman who you would love to crown?

My mama, my sisters. They are examples to me, everything I’ve learned in life is thanks to them, and will forever continue to learn from them. Damn, this interview is starting sound like a self-help book haha.

Wild Monarchy celebrates all women for their strength, power and bravery. How do you feel about Wild Monarchy and it's story?

It’s such an important time to pay special attention to women empowerment. Werk, Wild Monarchy!!
